[BETA] v0.1.5-pre-release-20160613
#1
This is the first beta release of the upcoming Snakeoil - 0.1.5 (No code name yet).  Feeling so positive about the 64 bit edition of Cryo Treatment I've decided to try and replicate the same with the 32 bit version.

So all the 32 bit players are rebuilt against ALSA 1.0.28!
And before you say anything, yes I already know the latest ALSA version is 1.1.1 [Image: bird.gif] .

For now please consider this first beta release as unstable and experimental.  Try this at your own risk, although I have tested this, there are still things I can't foresee. Report any problems immediately by posting in this thead. Especially with the more serious problems so others don't get into the same predicament as you.

With the above disclaimer out of the way, for those who dare wins, I'm anxious to hear feedback from you. Please post your views/findings in this thread with respect to to the 32 bit firmware (the 64 bit firmware are already built with 1.0.28 so hopefully the SQ will remain the same).

IMPORTANT: Cryo Treatment (0.1.4) will check for type compatibility but prior versions do not. If you are using an older firmware version please double check you have download the correct firmware that matches the architecture of your machine. i.e. install the i686 firmware if you are using 32 bit Snakeoil, and amd64 if you are using 64 bit Snakeoil.

Download:
.fw   snakeoil-0.1.5-pre-release-20160613-amd64.fw (Size: 18.77 MB / Downloads: 19)
.fw   snakeoil-0.1.5-pre-release-20160613-i686.fw (Size: 18.43 MB / Downloads: 3)

Changes since 0.1.4 (Cryo Treatment)
  • All 32 bit players (MPD, Squeezelite and XMMS) are now built & linked against ALSA 1.0.28. Will this sound as amazing as the 64 bit edition? Please comment below!
  • Multi-lingual support! I need translators to help translate the Snakeoil web interface to your native language. If you have the time and patience to do this, please leave a comment below. State which language you are working on (so others will notice and not duplicate the work you have done). Refer to this section of the manual on how to translate.
  • Fixed and updated a lot of the English text [Image: confused.png]
  • Re-factored a lot of the build mechanism such that a single platform can be used to build 32 and 64 bit stuffs (This should improve quality of future releases)
  • Updated JQuery to 3.0.0
  • fixed broken 64 bit cyclictest (My bad!)
  • fixed broken vnc virtual desktop on newer 0.1.4 installs (Again my bad! [Image: blush.png])
As usual please refer to the reference guide and FAQ if you havn't done so already. If this your first time updating the firmware and you are feeling apprehensive, please follow this short video guide:

Hi Agent Kith,

0.1.5 seems to be working fine here.

I've tested with Squeezelite, NAA and Roon bridge and all works well.

Thanks for all your efforts.

I have tested the new 64 bit version of the firmware (snakeoil-0.1.5-pre-release-20160613-amd64.fw) and works correct. Mid-range of the sound has improved a lot! :-)
Thanks again for your efforts!

Used versions:
ISO : ISO File Version 0.1.4 (Cryo Treatment)
Kernel : vmlinuz-4.4.9-rt17-amd64-pxe-overlay-usb

I have installed the 64bit OS and upgraded to 1.5 pre release.
Very pleased with the sound quality and ease of use once installed and setup.
Big thumbs up and thanks for your help mate Clap
