MP3 Not Playing
#1
Is anyone having problems with LMS playing mp3's?  Suddenly mp3s no longer work.   Most of my music is flac,  so I'm ok.  But I do have some MP3s

Running Snake OIL OS on Ubuntu 22.04 with LMS Version: 8.4.1

this is what the log says:[24-03-07 01:26:31.4932] Slim:Tonguelayer::Song::open (424) Error: Couldn't create command line for mp3 playback for [file:///media/music/down/Fugazi%20-%20City%20Gardens%20.mp3]

That's really strange. I noticed the other day that the opposite had happened. Apple format files and MP3s weren't playing on earlier versions of SO/LMS, but they are now. My thought was that 8.4.x (I noticed on 8.4.1) had solved it. Never assume nuffink!

My server is RPi 5/Bookworm/SO 1.3.0; clients are mainly RPi 4/Bookworm and LTS 22.04/SO 1.3.0, but some RPi 3s.

Not much to do with this thread, but I'm planning a longer post about what configurations I've found work with 1.3.0—installed on various RPis (and their HATs) and the two base operating system options—when my brain can face writing it! It's been a long haul.

I have been battling this same issue for a couple of years without success...see https://www.snakeoil-os.net/forums/Threa...o-play-MP3. I also noticed a number of other new threads relating to squeezelite issues....

I have just started a new thread https://www.snakeoil-os.net/forums/Threa...queezelite to consolidate.
