Spotify Client

Haven’t yet updated the firmware to 1.1.8 so will do that. Do I understand you right that the Spotify client will work for 32 bit in 1.1.8?
Yes, I just tested this on a 32 bit install and it works.

Hi again agent_kith,

New day, new problems...
Just finished up a machine to serve as a second room spotify player.

Now, for some reason when I tick Spotify Connect in the Snakeoil "Music Software" menu, it runs the installation but completes including the message
"WARNING: The following packages cannot be authenticated! spotify-client"

Upon clicking "Close" the spotify button is unticked again and indeed does not appear as an option under "Music Players".

I have tried both FW 1.1.8 (which I have previously used with success in 32bit) and 1.1.10 (as this is the latest).

It would seem I have an issue with access to the spotify repository.

I tried installing spotify connect on another machine (otherwise using upmpdicli) and this worked just fine, on the same network...

Any advice would be most welcome.

Looks like the GPG key has expired, can you SSH into the machine, and run this:
Code:
curl -sS https://download.spotify.com/debian/pubkey_0D811D58.gpg | sudo apt-key add -

And try to install Spotify client again? Cheers

I get the following when running the above:

curl: (48) An unknown option was passed in to libcurl

gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.

Is is supposed to say *.pgp or *.gpg? I tried both, with same result.

Hmm. It should work.
Can you run just
Code:
curl -sS https://download.spotify.com/debian/pubkey_0D811D58.gpg
and see if you get the output?

it's gpg (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_Privacy_Guard). I love and have used the old PGP from Zimmerman.. These days I don't think I would trust PGP any more.. Tongue

Interesting, what distro are you using? Raspberry Pi, or something else?
just run this then to add the key, hopefully it'll work for your setup.
Code:
curl https://download.spotify.com/debian/pubkey_0D811D58.gpg | sudo apt-key add -

Hmm, same as before:

curl: (48) An unknown option was passed in to libcurl
gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.

It's 32bit Snakeoil OS on an Intel Atom N2800. I've got three other machines including one with identical HW to the current troublemaker all made with the same image file so I'm a bit puzzled as to what might be different.

Could it make any difference if I started from scratch and reinstalled everything? I've tried switching this machine to upmpdcli and it plays from the NAS just fine, so it seems to be fully operational apart from this inability to run spotify connect.

I'll have to check what's wrong with the 32 bit version of curl.. In the mean time, for now, go to that URL from your browser - then cut and paste the contents into a file and save it to the Snakeoil computer (You can do this via the music share), you can save the file as gpg.

Next, just run this:
Code:
cat /media/music/gpg | sudo apt-key add -

And you should get the updated key.

Thanks... should almost work now.. except it returns with "no such file or directory"

I can clearly see the file in the music folder (also in the SO web browser) so saving it onto the snakeoil computer is not the issue.
- which file type does it need to be saved as? (I have tried using the gpg file and with the contents in a text file)
- is the directory /media/music by default? How can I see if it's called something else?
- Anything else I'm missing?
