However, cannot play any music, getting error message that "Spotify can't play this right now". The music is from Spotify and can be played on phone etc, but cannot be played via Spotify Connect
My bad, I've only tested Spotify Client will start, havn't actually tried playing anything on it.. Will see if I can figure this out later.
Hey guys, Just installed SnakeOil on the Pi.

Is there an official Spotify client for Raspberry Pi? I can't seem to find one, hence there's no "hook" to enable Spotify in Raspberry Pi.
There is something called raspotify though, unsure what that is just yet.
Anything new on this?
Can’t get it to work. LMS/Spotify through Snakeoil machine is glitchy too.
Daphile/LMS is perfect with Spotify so I know it is doable.
This is a big deal. Spotify is the biggest streamer on the planet.
I love the sound of MPD /Snakeoil.

FYI, Qobuz provides the largest database and best audio quality.
Thanks but I prefer Spotify. It’s a family thing too -2 daughters and we have a premium sub.
Not sure where you are - but here most haven’t even heard of qobuz. I have tried it though.
So - I think I fixed my issue with LMS/Spotty/upnpmpd. I was getting intermittent skipping using Ogg Vorbis (which I think is native for Spotify). I was also only getting 320kbps. I went under “file types” in LMS settings and for both Ogg Vorbis and Spotty disabled all types except for WAV and PCM. Now, the playback is rock solid AND I am also getting 1411kbps CBR converted to PCM which is equivalent to CD quality. I also tried both direct and proxied streaming
under Players->audio but this didn’t seem to make a difference.
So, you don’t need to load Spotify Connect on the SO machine itself, but can use an LMS instance whether local or elsewhere on the network . This works for me- I’d rather keep the SO machine as lean as possible anyway.
