This is the release candidate 1 for the upcoming SnakeoilOS 1.0.0 (Golden Ears) release.
This firmware is only intended for folks running 0.8.x or later. If you're on 0.1.x, you'd have to
download the ISO and re-install as this is a big jump from 0.1.x and there are way too many changes for a firmware update.
Folks on 0.8.x, please use this new startup script from now on. You don't really need to, but this new script is easier to recover errors from. To start using this new script, please SSH into your SnakeoilOS machine, and run the following commands:
Code:
sudo wget "https://git.snakeoil-os.net/snakeoil/snakeoil-rest/uploads/0ffde01fd096c24e409cf705263db62f/snakeoil-server.sh" -O /usr/local/bin/snakeoil-server.sh
sudo chmod 755 /usr/local/bin/snakeoil-server.sh
sudo reboot
The above commands will download the script, and then reboot the computer for the new script to take effect.
WHATS NEW

ADDENDUM
Depending on which version of 0.8.x, there may be issues when updating the firmware. Once the firmware is uploaded, go to another menu (e.g. Player), and then back to the "System" menu again and see if that works. If the firmware updates properly, you should see the following in the dashboard. Make sure it says 0.9.0. Please post in here if you have issues.
Listening today, all day, all works, congratulations ! Nearly at 1.0 !
Questions.... the changelog above lists... "All MPD editions built with curl support (For Internet Radio) "
Built with but not yet implemented ??
Tried adding url's in Client 175 and it threw the usual not found messages.
Will 1.0 have streams and mpd working ?
Was also going to ask about the Qualcom atheros chipset for the EeePC but can't find the post where we discussed that....all the .8 series posts seem to be gone ?

Hmm. I've actually forgotten about that. All MPDs have CURL support now, but I don't think I have ever tested it proper.

Do you have a URL for me to test? I'd be home in about 5 hours, and hopefully I can test that later today.

Yeah. That's the idea.

That thread is
here (In the ISO section). I've totally forgot about the AR8152 chipset.
Sorry!! I've added this request in my
todo list for the RC fixes.

(dons full plate armor).... incoming.....!
In Client175, click that URL button (circled in red):
When prompted to enter a URL, enter the last one. It should show up in the playlist. Turn the volume to a low level just in case. Now select the MP3 list, and hit PLAY.
Do you get music? Or do you get music with static?
I'm getting static, not sure what is happening....
(04-Jul-2017, 03:56 AM)Bromf Wrote: [ -> ]I get no static....and no music.... just the usual error...(it does not even search for the URL)
"The following error was encontered when sending the command: add http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s...8d82cf7daf
Unsupported URI: http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s...8d82cf7daf "
For Mad Music Asylum and AncientFM it searches and throws this error...(undefined= most helpful! lol)
"The following error was encontered when sending the command: add http://psn1.prostreaming.net:8095/stream
undefined"
"The following error was encontered when sending the command: add http://5.152.208.98:8058
undefined"
This is how Client 175 has always behaved..... it just doesn't seem to be sophisticated enough to resolve streams ???
I got that initially too. Then it suddenly worked again for me. Not quite sure how and why but I'd investigate, it looks like a client175 issue..

http://www.simplexstream.com/tunein.php/...aylist.pls
AncientFM playing !(without static)
Ah, perhaps it only resolves .pls ?? will try some more today.
That's great to hear
. Must be my Virtual Machine causing issues.
Let me know if you have any more issues on this..

@
Bromf. Check your PM and let me know if that kernel works for the EeePC or not.

I downloaded the latest iso
x86_64 and used unetbootin to write it to usb. Then replaced /casper/vmlinuz with the version you supplied. The EeePC does not boot.
II have opened the downloaded iso with isomaster and replaced vmlinuz then wrote it to a cd . Will try booting that next.
Result !! Edited iso boots and Snakeoil has networking ! Yes, the modified kernel you supplied works as expected. :-)

Hmm interesting overwriting the USB file system directly don't work. I think I'd add this network card into the stock kernel from the next ISO on.
Thanks for the testing.
