Only 5 days since last post, but for some reason it felt like a month. Hectic week at work I guess
.
Too tired at the end oay so unfortunately havn't had the chance to really get to do much development on BlindTesting codebase. Did get some of the easy ones out of the way last weekend though, namely:
- 0000137: [install] Update cyclictest to v1.0 in ISO
- 0000126: [web-app] Add "Update Ubuntu" to System Command Panels
- 0000119: [web-service] Expand snakeoil-rest to do CLI mode.
- 0000121: [web-service] Add CLI mode: Generate Diagnostics File
- 0000120: [web-service] Add CLI mode: Show version
- 0000134: [install] Disable pulse audio with 32 bit ISO install
- 0000127: [install] Don't unpack default blue theme. Reducing ISO size by approximately 10-15 MB
- 0000132: [install] 32 bit ISO is missing cyclictest
- 0000118: [General] Automate Build Process
The above crossed out approximately 1/3 of the checklist, the remaining items are significantly harder to do so it'd still be awhile when this is ready. While doing the cyclictest thing realised the 32 bit ISO is missing out on the cyclictest executable, and also has pulse audio installed. Will have to release a module to fix that in due time.
Meanwhile, any suggestions you guys want to be added in 1.1.0, or any other players you want to try in 1.0.x, post 'em here.

You can add.
0000137:
[install] Update cyclictest to v1.0 in ISO
0000121:
[web-service] Add CLI mode: Generate Diagnostics File
0000120:

And also fix display of NTFS disk FUSEBLK.
Frequently updated to the new ISO with the release of new patches!

That's a great idea, this is definitely something worth doing now Snakeoil OS has gone Angular.
Added to 1.1.0 Todo list.
Colleague quit his job and my workload increased to cover his. My Snakeoil OS development time is already low before, now it's worse. Think I'm gonna loose my hair and gain a lot of weight soon.
Bring it on! I'm a problem solver and this ain't gonna stop me. Unfortunately this inevitably means Snakeoil OS "Blind Testing" will take longer to release.
Here is a mock up of a new page - statistics. Right now I'm not using real data yet
.
In this page there'd be:
- RAM load
- CPU load
- Real time Cyclictest (with histogram binning)
The RAM and CPU load page will keep track of these two metrics over the last hour. To keep the load down, I think I'm only going to sample the instantaneous result every 5 minutes instead of a averaged 5 minute value.
The cyclictest histogram will be the fun part. More on that this I eventually finish it. If this works it should give folks hours of tweaking fun.
Here's one from left field.... as audio-addicts we seem to accumulate extra electronics, drivers, and computing units....
I have been experimenting with...
http://xover.sourceforge.net/ and 3 spare amplifiers along with a small collection of speaker drivers. Much fun and learning.
I found a Linux version...
http://rtaylor.sites.tru.ca/2013/06/25/d...are-howto/
Which seems to have been overtaken by the
LADSPA work outlined here..
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/twisted-p...s-bbb.html
Something with the ease of use of foo_dsp_crossover and the power of the LADSPA filters yet Linux based....would be an awesome tool and uber-useful plugin for Snakeoil....!
What do others think ?

Hmm. I like the idea. All this time Snakeoil uses direct hardware access and seldom go through any plugins. Will be nice if I can find a way to support this. And turn Snakeoil OS into an active cross-over box.
May be find trying to nail the latency down to minimum and not sacrifice computing time (This is where CGroups will come in handy).
Nice one. Let me work on the other stuffs first (Gotta do CGroups and music client first). Once the big issues are out of the way, I'd start and think of the UI to get this done.
