It should still work (At least in my upgraded setup), follow the instructions
here.
Are you running this from a fresh Ubuntu install, or you run the installer over an older Snakeoil install?
Some diagnostics steps:
- SSH into your Snakeoil PC and type in the command "mount.cifs", does it work? If yes, then go to step 3
- If above doesn't work, run the command "sudo apt install -y cifs-utils" and try again
- Check your NAS and see what Samba options is needed. Is it v1 only?
- Any logs from your NAS saying why it fails?
So should be.. (select CIFS for the protocol)
//volume1.local/Music or //168.1.123/Music (Check that ip...)
for the share and then in the boxes at right, the user for the share (windows account) Tony (?) and their password and the (if default share setup) WORKGROUP
mine is...
//omvhpt.local/music (etc)

As AK has mentioned, could be a Samba version error. Synology is not the most friendly NAS.
This may help with error 95....setting samba-v3 on the Synology NAS worked
