Hi, Pals,
Look, as I once got a 'quite low' latency from a previously gone ATX fanless PC. But the replacement budget small fanless PC got a terribly high latency value. I'm wondering that, should I build another fanless ATX PC, or just get a NUC in fanless design.
May I ask the NUC users here to show me your Latency value? And the CAS/CL Latency of the RAM, also some brief CMOS settings, such as on/off of VM, Hyperthreading, Speedstep and etc? Any help will be deeply appreciated.
Thanks a lot and Happy Listening!
Is this with a real time kernel?
I also had latency of the same order (min.3000 - max.7000) on a fanless CPU with a weak Intel N5030 processor (1.6 Ghz) with a real-time core.

Dear AK,
That's the NAS kernel. Well, I guess, I don't need that NAS function soon. As I found with my new reclocker + DDC, such PC produce much better sound than the stock streamer + reclocker in my system. Or, would you please kindly tell me now to replace/add the ordinary RT Snakeoil kernel? Apprecated.

Hi, Valery,
Would you please kindly tell me what your fanless PC is? Appreciated!

NAS kernel should be Real time I believe (The RT stands for Real Time). It could be down to the speed of the CPU I guess, perhaps you can try and disable any serial and USB ports that's unused, see if that'll help.

Thanks, AK. I've already disabled them. Maybe just the budget fanless PC is too lousy.
And would you please kindly tell me how to replace the current kernel with the original SnakeOil kernel? I've already sold the stock streamer I'm back to SnakeOil for MPD again.
My computer is an aluminum box with an internal SSD, there is also an external HDD connected via a USB port. Intel Celeron N3050 Processor. RAM DDR3 4Gb.

Here are my results:

I can't say that I understand these numbers!
Are they good or bad?
Snake Oil 1.2.1
Ubuntu 16.04.7 LTS (GNU/Linux 4.4.9-rt17-snakeoil-x64 x86_64)
I'm running Snake Oil on an Intel NUC:
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/...i5ryh.html
I can't check the more detailed settings, since I'm running my NUC headless tucked away deep inside the hi-fi rack.
I only know that I've tweaked BIOS a lot (turning off everything that is not needed including all USB ports except one, forcing USB 2.0, etc, etc).
I have also set USB process to realtime in Snake Oil.

Thanks a lot for your reply, koko6969koki. Would you please kindly use this command to run the cyclic test again to display in us (10^-6, = millisecond / 1000) ?

No problem!
I'm not a Linux expert, so I just found some cyclictest commands example online.
Can you tell me the full cyclictest commands expression that you wish me to perform? Everything from "sudo" to the end.
