It's complicated. Yes because I've already got the new Drupal instance setup. No because I am still busy with other things on my plate right now. Sad

I thought I had the last weekend long weekend to smash the deb stuffs out, but nope. Work got in the way. This weekend I really don't have the energy or motivation to switch my state of mind from work to Snakeoil. And I have to be on my A game tomorrow.

I do realise how behind I am on Snakeoil. Even the RT patches made it to the Kernel mainline!!! That is a significant progress.

If I only have 40 hours a day. Big Grin At the end of the day have to be a realist, if I quit my job (I nearly did 2 or 3 weeks ago) then I can focus on Snakeoil, otherwise I have to focus on my day job. While I am not earning a lot on my day job, it's still significantly more that what I can get from Snakeoil. With cost of living and what not I have to put my focus on the right place.

Hopefully I can get Drupal up and running for you folks to put content up. But I also want to get that deb build out of the way first, as documentation is kind of useless if you can't run Snakeoil in the first place. :/

To be honest a few weeks ago I am not even sure my company will survive past the year. But today I am getting very promising news on the front line. We might make it. Smile <3
After upgrade to 1.4, LMS and others are all disappeared except mpd.  Then down grade to 1.3.1, everything come back fortunately 😂
1.4 is still in the midst of being developed there could still be bugs. Big Grin Yeah, I havn't touched on SO since I last posted unfortunately. 2 Fridays ago something I worked on just went into production. That is a feature that should have already been implemented maybe 16 to 18 months ago. There were two developers (one after another) that is tasked to my project are absolutely hopeless. They are always there to claim the credit but they did f**k all.

First one left on his own accord (to a higher paying job), second one is let go before he can pull the same stunt. I hate it when people don't do their jobs they're actually paid to do, and use their current employment as a stepping stone. That is so unethical! I get it people like money, but where is the pride?

To release a feature that should have been done 18 months ago, the first guy was given 8 months and he did nothing, I finished this in two. I had to waste a lot of my effort to document what the 2nd guy has not done, and that's taking development time away from me too.

I guess this isn't an excuse, just a reason why I havn't been focused on SO lately. I really like my day job, and if we do this right we can change the world. However I've just been given two lemons in the past 2 weeks. Promise you guys, once I remove all their bad shit (will keep their good) out of the project, and fix everything up properly. I'll be back working on Snakeoil again.

And yeah, the promising news just isn't enough to carry things over. So we didn't make it LOL No regrets though, as you guys can probably tell, I spent like 250% effort past 2 years on my day job. Gave my best and that's what count. Sometimes no matter how hard you try, you will still fail anyway. But that's OK.

The key is never gloss over the reasons why we fail, and we learn from them and try not to repeat the same mistakes. And we fight on.

Anyhoo gimme a few days to sort some things (and clean things out), and I should have a few months to work on Snakeoil...

Not going to actively look for a job right now so only posting out some feelers, my focus now is try and get Snakeoil High-End back on track... And also focus on my fitness/health, I've been doing walks every morning now, and hopefully can move on to slow jogs in the future (Prob not a good idea as I'm not supposed to jog/run, but meh, YOLO!).

The list of things to do is long, but hopefully will get some of these checked off.
@agent_kith, welcome back, but sorry to hear that you no longer have a day job.

Please take the opportunity to "smell the roses" and focus on your health and fitness.

Welcome back, too, AK. Sorry to hear it all went wrong, but there are times when the unverse tells you what's going to happen, even if you give it your all.

At the same time (self-interest, here), I'm glad to here you're getting back on the 1.4 trail.

Take it easy, man.

Thanks. The job is kindda secondary to be honest. It's more a disappointment we couldn't push this through. I guess lesson learnt, it's not really how hard you try, sometimes you simply cannot go against the tide. Silence

That's part of my plan actually. Been spending the first 2 hours of my day doing some simple walking. Aim is to get the heart to go to >160bpm for at least 30 minutes a day. Slowly getting there (26:46 minutes today).

True. I have this never give up mentality and at times it's not a good thing. However, I will have lots of regrets if I don't stay through. Been spending most of my waking hours on my day job though.. And it just vaporizes in an instant. Good thing is I have completed everything I wanted to do for this project - that is a huge accomplishment as I have did all that on my own.

Same here. The deb package is almost ready, just missing a few files - the players and it's configuration. Once I fixed that, will learn and how to setup a deb repository. And that should be good to go.

At this stage the Debian package will be unsigned though, that will be something to look at in the future.

To be honest after around 18 months of "fight or flight", it's actually pretty hard to just sit back and relax. There is this sense of restlessness that just don't go away.. For now I will dedicate the next 3 days on Snakeoil, and no job hunting. See how far I can go, as after the Debian package is done, really need to work on moving the blogs to Drupal.

Anyway, hopefully I can get things done over the next few days.

Suggest getting Google Fit on your phone to monitor your walking. It has Heart Points, which is a proxy for encouraging brisk walking. Build slowly and regular walking then becomes a habit.

I'm using XiaoMi S3 with it's own fitness app.. Works pretty well so far.

In other news did a fair bit of work today. You can download the debian files now, but I will not disclose the location for now as the players are still missing. Hope to get that address the player situation tomorrow, and then I can at least do a beta test release first.

Things are looking good (amazing the things I can do now that I'm unemployed LOL). To be honest the first release of 1.4.0 (high-end) will functionally be the same as measurements - Just that it's built for Ubuntu noble for armv8 and amd64.

Once the first release is out, I will need to focus on migrating the blog (and wiki) system to Drupal. And then work on updating the API backend to Golang. Lots of catch up to do. :/
Grr, hit some snag with the players. Intel/AMD system is mostly done I think, but Raspberry Pi I'm still missing some stuffs. Will finish that off tomorrow instead and release the first beta (hopefully).

In this first beta release you'll need to install LMS separately as it's no longer bundled. Will post more information in the beta section I guess when it's ready.
