Full Version: Snakeoil 1.4 and Squeezelite R2 - not rembering USB audio output

Hi all and I hope you've had a great weekend.

I'm running Snakeoil 1.4 on a Rpi5 with the Ubuntu Real Time Kernel. Sounds sublime!

My DAC is an Amanero384 equipped Gieseler Kompakt II TDA1541A DAC.

In between the DAC and the Rpi5 is a Gieseler Reinigen USB reclocker which is permantently powered on to keep the clock nice and stable.

Aside from the Reinigen, my system is powered through the same master switch, so when I power my system on, everything switches on at the same time - the DAC turns on, and the Rpi5 boots up.

I've noticed that every time it boots, Squeezelite R2 does not save my audio output preference (USB). I need to go in and manually set it each time. I save the settings, but the same thing happens next time.

Any suggestions on the software side?

I'm going to play around a bit more with hardware options e.g. seeing if the Rpi5/Snakeoil/Squeezelite R2 is happier with the Reinigen and/or DAC powered on after the Rpi5 has booted up, but I'd really like to maintain my current power-on and startup arrangements if possible.

Let me know if you have any thoughts (apart from the obvious which is "Pete, get in there and test the hardware power up/turn-on sequencing to see if that helps" as that's my next step!) Wink
If you were to go into the webapp, under system & reboot, does it start up Squeezelite R2 outputting to USB without you having to go under Music Player to configure it?

I've just rebooted and this time it started up R2 outputting to USB just fine.

Weird!

I'll replicate my usual start-up sequence from cold tomorrow night and see what it does.
In my system if my Pi5 boots up before my dac, I have to manually select the output. If my dac is booted up before my Pi5, then no issues. I suspect your Giesler dac may still be still booting up when you Pi is ready.

Excellent - let me experiement a bit! Thanks for sharing.
