The Internet for most is a place for entertainment, I can’t argue with that, this is one of my main reasons for using the Internet too! But that’s more to the Internet than entertainment alone, the providers of entertainment sees the Internet as a way of doing business, in the sense the Internet is a high speed link from the entertainment producer to the entertainment consumer. For this to work, the link has to be high speed!
This is my broadband connection in Perth, Australia. Notice my uploading speed is only 0.4 Mbps. That means when I have a new ISO to release, it will take hours for me to upload the fresh ISO images. And thanks to the slow Internet connection, the uploading process can get interrupted and I had to restart all over again.
Now I was in Singapore and Hong Kong recently, and these are the speeds they offer.

The latency is what maddens me the most, Australia is slow!
