I've been following an interesting thread on the Linn forum ( https://www.hifiwigwam.com/forum/topic/1...hronicles/) Has anyone investigated using EMI shielding inside a streamer? I am considering testing this product inside mine: https://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/L...EShA%3D%3D

I've been using EMI absorber inside switch, streamer, and DAC for some years. They are interesting and the effect is very significant.
IMHO, for the digital part you can apply as many as you can. But for the audio, only cover those digital board or the sound would be weird.
The EMI absober I'm using was from 3M but it's just discontinued. Here is the suggested substitute. https://www.digikey.hk/product-detail/en/0/3M155948-ND
So, here are some discussions but in traditional Chinese, one gotta use the browser's translate function.

Ah very interesting. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.
My thinking is to use the shielding to minimise EMI between the SSD, the motherboard/CPU, the ATX power supply, and the power cables.
I think I can do this with minimal interference with air flow, so should not cause over heating. The case stays pretty cool.

This reminds me of the best setup I have heard so far (the guy who inspired me to tune Hifi systems - Kajak12). He doesn't use a case for his TDA-1541 DAC. Effectively his DAC is unshielded, but putting the case back actually makes the sound worse. So absorbing these interferences internally sounds like a good tweak.

Yup, so I think, and in my experience, using EMI absorber for digital part is with much less concern.
Even in almost a year ago I've tried using EMI absorber in my Lumin U1 Mini, and found the sound changed drastically ( https://www.hiendy.com/hififorum/forum.p...pid3049796 ), I only dig deeply and understood more how to make use of the change to achieve a significant sonic improvement in recent 2 months.

That's very helpful, thanks. I look forward to testing it on my streamer.
Have you come across benefits of encasing the AC adaptor in earthed EMI shielding copper sheet, like that used to shield electric guitars?

You're welcome. Yet I didn't encasing with copper sheet.
In my understanding, the copper sheet reflects and just keeps part of the charges on its surface. Eventually it becomes a secondary sources of emi pollution.😊

BTW, the exact one I'm using was just discontinued. This is the suggested substitute, https://www.digikey.hk/product-detail/en/0/3M155948-ND
Maybe you can order one and try in your streamer, too. :)
