Steps to create persistent USB running SnakeOil
- Download pre-installed Ubuntu 22.04 (64bit PC AMD64) server here
- Use Balena Etcher to burn image on USB stick (Rufus does not work)
- Connect terminal, keyboard to PC, if required. On laptops without a network port, will need a USB network adapter; not all will work with Ubuntu and startup process will stall if not working.
- Boot PC, enter F10 (or equivalent) to bring up boot options. On mine, selected 3rd option without UEFI
- Login ubuntu password ubuntu. You will be prompted to change password
- Run 1.3.0 script to install SnakeOil (or use Putty):
bash -c "$(wget -qLO - https://artifacts.snakeoil-os.net/artifacts/snakeoil-installer.sh)
- Reboot PC and access SnakeOil via browser
- You can now change SnakeOil, activate etc. and it will be saved on USB.
This process is ideal for people with Windows PCs to try SnakeOil.
