I forgot about this thread and started a new one which will be deleted. This is much easier to do and has been tested on a few different boxes.
- Download pre-installed Ubuntu 22.04 (64bit PC AMD64) server
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-server/...d/current/
- Use Balena Etcher to burn image on USB stick (Rufus does not work)
- Connect terminal, keyboard to PC, if required. On laptops, will need a USB network adapter; not all will work with Ubuntu and startup process will stall if not working.
- Boot PC, enter F10 (or equivalent) to bring up boot options. On mine, selected 3rd option without UEFI
- Login ubuntu password ubuntu. You will be prompted to change password
- Run 1.3.0 script to install SnakeOil (or use Putty)
bash -c "$(wget -qLO - https://artifacts.snakeoil-os.net/artifacts/snakeoil-installer.sh)"
- Reboot PC and access SnakeOil via browser
- You can now change SnakeOil, activate etc. and it will be saved on USB.
