Time for a quick update for everybody. For folks who doesn't know already, the first Alpha is out for a while and have been tested somewhat. It's a different type of system now, you install Ubuntu (e.g. 20.04 LTS) first, then copy the installer over and execute it. Reboot the system and you're computer will be "Snakoil'ed".
You can also install the old Snakeoil (based on on 16.04), and run the installer to get it. This is the current workaround for older Atom computers while I find out the kernel config that is used for these official Ubuntu ISOs. This also means you can now run Snakeoil on any EFI computers!
There's some additional optimisations in the RestAPI but the frontend more or less looks the same (Same code, just built with newer tools). For a general gist of what's happening, you can refer
here.
So far, I reckon MPD 0.22.3 is probably the best sounding. But I'm still undecided on this one, it's really unforgiving on highly compressed music (About 95% of my collection).. I don't have a physical computer to test how Gear Isolation sounds on 20.04 (I'm still runing 16.04). But at least it's a another step up compared to Blind Testing. I have very good feelings on 20.04 (unlike 18.04), and I'm sure with more tweaks it'll be even amazing.
Next, I'll be working on Raspberry Pi version. And that's when the first beta will be released.
For VIP folks, I'll eleborate more in the other thread.
