That is indeed the next priority, now waiting for a technology change for the Wiki. As soon as that is done, a number of us will update the Wiki and we will seek your feedback.

Fully agree that it is harder to install SnakeOil on a Pi than others, even though it sounds much better. The flexibility is both an asset and weakness. There is the flexibility to enjoy music "your way" but it adds complexity and the requirement to have some technical know how.

Smoothest install ever on HP T620 thinclient !
Installed Ubuntu server 24.04, ran the wget line and then the install line and rebooted. Couldn't have been simpler.
All one needs to know is to activate the ssh option in the server installer...just a tick (spacebar) box and uncheck the LVM option and add none of the other 'plugins' from the server options page..
On reboot to the web UI MyMpd installed flawlessly and it auto-magically updated it's database once the NAS was added as a mount.
Great release AK !

SnakeOil 1.4 sounds better, appears to have more body than 1.3.1 on a Pi5. Setup details: - Pi5 SO 1.4 on Ubuntu 24.04, Ubuntu RT kennel, Squeezelite V2 1507
- Pi5 SO 1.3.1 on Bookworm, my own RT kennel. Squeezelite V2 1406
- Used same separate LMS 9 server running SO 1.4 on AMD Ubuntu 24.04
Another reason to upgrade from 1 3 to 1.4. Note that 1.3 is not alerting user that 1.4 is now out.

Hi,
Can 1.4.0 be installed onto a clean install of Ubuntu Server or will it only work with the Desktop Version of Ubuntu?
Thanks in advance.

i'm confused here, not sure, if I have 24.04 and its running SOS 1.30 running the current version of Lyriion upgraded from itself. .. . I realize I already asked this earlier in the thread, but it's not clear. DO I need to uninstall Lyrion from this machine and then reinstall the entire SOS Package? There is not an update file?
also --It seems a couple places that it suggest we should do a fresh install of 24.04 ... can you confirm this?

No need to uninstall Lyrion 9. If you have Logitech 8, then you need uninstall.
All you need to do is run the sudo apt install of 1.4 deb package. And I have tested it.

It was my suggestion to do a clean install, if you can. It will minimise any chance of previous versions of any software, Ubuntu, SO, LMS etc. causing a problem. However, upgrading your SO 1.3 to 1.4 will also work.
