Install Ubuntu OS

Snakeoil currently works on Ubuntu. Snakeoil will work on either Desktop or Server editions.

Install Guides

There are already multiple guides on the Internet on how to install Ubuntu so we will not re-invent the wheels here. 

We recommend you use Ubuntu Server edition as it's more lightweight. However the server edition is more difficult to install for people new to Linux. Desktop edition is easier to install however it will install tons of software that you will never use. 

Please install Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Noble Numbat) as this has been thoroughly tested.  Older Ubuntu versions will not work.  Newer Ubuntu versions may also work but not tested nor supported.

Download the Raspeberry Pi Installer here and use it to install Ubuntu on a micro SD card. Please ensure that you have enabled SSH.
