Birth of Snakeoil Operating System

29th Feb of 2016 officially marketh the birth of the Snakeoil Operating System (Snakeoil). Announcing the inaugral Snakeoil, ***drumroll*** the

Schumann Resonance

I have installed Snakeoil onto a Jetway 2800 PC . It was an easy install- far simpler than Vortexbox . Sound quality is the best I have experienced and Snakeoil is now the new standard in that regard. I have been using Squeezelite and LMS and compared it to Vortexbox and Daphile

Just installed SnakeOil on Intel Atom DN2800 with no problems at all; now communicating to Meitner MA1 DAC via SOtM PCIe card. Using Squeezelite so far.

Sound quality is great!

I can’t boot from USB. I can choose it in BIOS but "no operating system" comes up repeatedly. It then goes back to the BIOS screen.

Based on private email exchange, I have updated the manual with these following additions:

Added new chapter describing what BIOS settings are needed: Preparing your computer
Added detailed example on how to do the above with a Jetway NF9C-2600 in the advanced topics chapter
Expanded the Create Boot Media section to and added a short section on how to create a USB boot CD with UNetbootin

Hopefully these additions will prove useful for people facing the same issues. Let me know how it goes.

With Agent Kith’s help, I am now listening to music! I have to wait for my library to transfer before I can access tracks I use for testing, but I can tell already it is superior to Daphile and at least as good as Vortexbox. More time will tell how good it really is but I am really impressed.
